The perfect displacement activity. Beading. New hobby. Can’t get enough of it – on a strictly civilian basis. I don’t think I’ll ever get up to Shades of Midnight level!

I am enjoying it so much – so thank you, ladies of CL!

Always glad to assist in creating another bead “lover”! 😉

I really love this. You are inspiring me!

Oh wow! That’s very pretty. I love the colours in it.

Waaaah! I want to do something nice like that, only I have to read boring old chapters on Business Writing… Zzzzz… Zzzz… Zzz… snuffle… Zzzz…

Quite chunky, mainly because of the gauge of tigertail I’m using. But I love chunky things!

Dearest Mereth; when I saw your handmade books I had a ‘wahhh!’ moment too, I must admit! 🙂

It looks like something that I would like to have a go at, I absolutely adore beads. Your pretty ones look like glass, and the heart in green-perfect 🙂

Thanks so much, Ceri. It’s really therapeutic! These are glass, but I (naughtily) ordered a stack of semi-precious beads too, plus some lovely silver ones. Some women buy shoes – TGW? Beads! 🙂

I have to pass on this! I can hardly sow on a shirt button, let alone go beading!

Haha!! 🙂 My room is like Carrie Bradshaw’s closet at the moment – colours shapes and styles clashing madly!

I think I know you under a different name at CL, yes?

Lovely beading! Are you the one, perhaps, who thought you couldn’t spend your rent? *wink*

Absolutely, my dear! 🙂

I’m bumbling about with my pliers clutched in my toes. I have no clue what I’m doing – beading by the seat of my pants, lol! – just finished a bracelet in green jade, aventurine, rock crystal and silver to wear to work tomorrow.

I’ve already got my next order lined up at the bead store. *I’m ill – send for the bead physician* !

Foxy – phew! Just as well! 🙂

Mama Kelly – itching is right. I hadn’t realised previous to meting Fox and the other beaders that there was such a range – as big as your imagination or bigger. Amazing!

Your beading style seems a lot like mine. It’s also a new hobby for me. I’ve posted pictures of my creations on my blog, too. But I’m terrible at crimping! I’ve had a few of my necklaces fall apart because of it. 😦

Wonderful hobby, isn’t it, Sarah! I got into it quite by chance on the recommend of some dear friends. They were right!

Crimping – we have a great small bead shop here, and they advised me not to bother with a crimp tool. I used Beadalon 0.5mm tigertail with a size 1 crimp tube on this piece, and just mashed the beggar as hard as I could with a pair of flat pliers. Things seem to hold pretty well so far!
